Elkhart, Indiana, is the home of the RVing industry. Almost all the RV manufacturers are based there, or in the surrounding cities, and many of the vendors that supply parts to the RV manufacturers are situated there as well.
In the spring of 2009, we moved out of our RV for a week while it was being repaired, and took a driving and hotel trip through Indiana. Coincidentally, it was the 100th anniversary of the RVing industry, a great time to visit the fantastic RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart and to see much of the RV manufacturing industry nearby. While in the area, we visited Amish country around Shipshewana and took a factory tour of Heartland RV where they build fifth wheel trailers.
