Early June, 2009 - We left Detroit for a brief drive along Ohio's northern reaches, visiting some of
Lake Erie's landmarks, and then headed west to Elkhart, Indiana, home of the RV industry. The RV/
MH Hall of Fame provided a fascinating glimpse into the origins of the RV industry, with a charming
display of antique trailers and motorhomes on their "Road Back in Time."
Early June, 2009 - Elkhart is on the edge of Amish country, and we took a fantastic 90-mile driving
tour of their farmlands and communities. After a brief immersion into their simple life and quiet ways,
we returned to the big city of Elkhart to tour the Heartland RV factory. This is one of the newer and
busier fifth wheel plants in production these days.
